Whenever I pass by a Golilocks store, be it in a mall or in any corner of the metro, I always recall my younger years, my most cherished childhood days. I would often take a peep into my kaleidoscope and remember my cousins, pre-school, grade school classmates, old neighbor playmates and oh, of course my yayas' who took good care of me while mom is at work.

We definitely grew up with Goldilocks cakes! Every year, during my birthdays, Goldilock cakes has always been the center piece of our main party table. Where children gather around, amazed and waiting in line to be served with a delicious slice!

Aside from doing my usual stuff online for money making ways such as improving & creating landing pages, signing up to new affiliate programs, optimizing my blogs and such, I also do the necessary ‘maintenance’ of my PC and data backups.

You’ll need to do this to optimize your computer's performance (when opening up several tabs, windows, and programs) at the same time, plus a peace of mind from crashes, lagging and the likes when you’re on your critical time making money online.

Don't easily upgrade to new programs if you see them come out, wait at least for a 2nd or 3rd release if not that necessary. This will ensure that most software tweaks of the latter's program are fixed.

Get your anti-virus software from a reputable company and update them regularly.

Here’s what I usually do:

Maintenance

1. Run maintenance program as often as you can
2. Run Scan disk, disk cleanup and defrag often
3. Use anti-spyware software
4. Use fix registry from reputable companies
5. I also practice good online habits, never ever open email from someone you don’t know especially those with attachments
6. I delete suspicious e-mail spams especially e-mail attachments from suspicious unknown senders

I'd like you to feel of what's happening, I mean go to the malls(by the way, filipinos' love going to the malls) in Makati, Alabang, the Fort, Libis, Ortigas, Mandaluyong and all those places with high volume of people. You'll see most people are lined up in the counters of top fast food chains. Would you like to make a wild guess? Beacuse most of the people feel it's more affordable and the food is fairly good for the price and great value for their money's worth. In other term, correctly priced. Then turn to your fancy restaurant. Yes, there are people just enough to keep you in the business and your menus are priced just a little above the fast food chains because you did a market study but greatly has more value for money and yet you have low volume of customers. It's very ironic. Its also good to note that an average filipino is making about P350 to about P500 or US$7 to US$10 per day. I won't comment on that. Maybe that's a hint...I'll get back to franchising next time. I'm just giving a bird's view point.

There are a lot of pros and cons in franchising a business. First would be a higher initial cash out in opting a franchised business. This concerns mostly small to medium entrepreneurs. Although this can be negated in the long run since you wouldn't be experimenting on different aspects of your business. Next would be a better initial appeal or confidence to consumers if your business is franchised. They would think, "service must be good," food must be great" etc. Leading to more business opportunities and customer referrals the very least.

In the Philippine business setting. Opportunities in these kind of businesses are truly evident. Let's start from the top, Jollibee.

A true genuine success. A gold mine. Literally speaking. They swallowed the local food industry, if that's the right term. Even international fast food chains couldn't keep up, well at least in the Philippines. So whats my point? Franchised businesses in the Philippines potentially does have opportunities and very much in the scene.

Business opportunities in the Philippines like in any country is very diversified. If you're not that familiar with the business culture in this country, it's always wise to consider seeking advice from different people in their respected field of expertise. The business in the Philippines where I can see a window of opportunities would be business franchising.

There are a lot of business opportunities in the Philippines. We better be ready and tactful in our business decisions. I mentioned business opportunities in franchising because we can have an assumption and compare their effectiveness, these businesses painstakingly record everything you have to know from what their sales people would wear to measuring their product ingredients by the gram.

My description of a franchising business would be focusing both the franchiser and franchisee's effort to succeed at the end of the day. I'll give an more detailed and relevant examples in my later posts.
